Wine & Mushroom Fest

Mendocino County is home to over 3,000 types of mushrooms, 500 of which are edible.

The highlight of mushroom season is Mendocino County’s annual 10-day Wine & Mushroom Festival (this year from Friday, November 5th through Monday, November 15th), with everything from mushroom dinners, wine- and beer-pairing workshops, mushroom exhibits, guided mushroom foraging walks and much, much more.

Haunted House

The Fort Bragg Leo {youth} Club will be hosting their 5th annual “Haunted House” attraction on Saturday, October 30th and Sunday, October 31st from 7-10 PM.
This Haunted House takes place in the Fort Bragg Lions Hall. It will have up to 13 rooms and mazes to go through, as well as our outside graveyard! It is intended to be extremely scary and not recommended for young children. However, the first hour, we will keep the “scare factor” down for little ones to join in on the fun, and it will become scarier as the night progresses.

Day of the Dead

Come embrace life, death, family, community, and the art of ritual by participating in this year's Mendocino Coast Day of the Dead Celebration.

Enjoy traditional meals, salsa dancing, Sugar Skull Class (Caspar Community Center, 10/22/10), mask and flower making classes, gallery shows (Soulful Abundance Exhibit at Oddfellows Hall through October), margarita tastings, Gualala's Day of the Dead Fiesta Oct. 31, as well as many other events throughout Mendocino County. Not to mention the Altar Trail, complete with map, where various Dia de Los Muertos Altars can be discovered. Many of the activities are free and the rest benefit local non-profits.
From Saturday, Oct. 30th to Nov, 2 the Fort Bragg Town Hall will be transformed into Day of the Dead Altar Hall. Numerous Altars from members of the community will be on display throughout this time.
New this year will be a Sunset Candlelight Procession through the streets of Fort Bragg ending at the Redwood Coast Senior Center for free champurrado (Mexican hot chocolate) and cookies. Join us for a costumed (or not) community celebration as we honor our loved ones in a traditional Day of the Dead fashion.
